Mary Lou is a photo series documenting my grandmother’s conscious decision to pass. Mary Lou, who I called Nana, decided in the spring of 2024 that she was ready to go. Over the next week and a half, in the environment of her studio apartment, she made the decision to limit her food and water intake. As I sat beside her on the carpeted floor, holding onto her delicate hand, I asked her if I could make some last film portraits of her in her room. She nodded.
